The Cactus Republic - More than just food
Okay, so it's not fancy, but it has certain beauty with its authenticity and the tile topped tables, even though the wooden furniture has seen better days.

A good location!

They have been here since 2012 and you will love the rustic atmosphere, from the Corona light fixture to the death face on the wall and Poncho Villa filling a space on the back inside wall.

Tiles that last!

The Cactus Republic, located in South Bank, has one of the best locations on Little Stanley Street. You not only get live music from street buskers, but there are throngs of people going by all the time; never a dull moment for people watching.

Chicken Quesadillas, Chili Enchilada and Jalapeno Poppers!

The fare is Mexican street food, the idea being that it is easy to eat, and doesn't take a lot of your time if you are in a rush to get to a show or catch the ferry. All of the food is made fresh, locally sourced and made on sight. The Jalapeno Poppers are tasty, and quite filling, so sharing a plate of them would be a good option unless you have a huge appetite. The Chilli is tasty and served on top of a bed of rice or you can also get the Chilli inside of an Enchilada.

Death head!

It is casual dining and they take no reservations, so you may want to be aware of the time when you go as they get busy on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Lime Marguerite!

You can take the whole family and everyone will come away full. Then you can head back to the beach or go to the Designer's Market. The proximately to all that is Southbank is right there for you. You can go for a swim and build up an appetite, or you can stroll along the river walk and then come for a marguerite. They have several flavours to choose from and you can have them frozen or not. You can come and spend the afternoon with friends checking out each other's opinions on which one is their favourite.

Your hosts!

The lovely people who work there are willing to assist you with whatever you need and are most friendly, even to let you take their photos if you are creating an article for them!

There are several mixed reviews on this restaurant so you will want to check it out for yourself. We always enjoy it and have been there several times and like to just pop in if we are in the area.

Their prices are also good and reasonable for a family outing or if you are on a budget. Enjoy!

Your Comment
I bought vegetarian quesadillas a few months ago and they were almost bare and full of mainly cheese, no flavours...both orders were almost as tasty as plastic.
I wouldn't go back...
