The Butler is an Ibero-American restaurant nestled amongst the backstreets of Potts Point with exotic themes enclosing the dining area and forest-like foliage consuming the outdoor area. Panoramic views from the terrace, along with the great cuisine, cocktails and an extensive wine list, make this a popular establishment.
As if the above isn't enough to entice you, they've recently upped the ante by transforming the venue into a pink spring floral oasis, in what they call The Butler in Bloom. The floral and art installations include a new wall mural, whilst a pop-up dessert bar features a menu that is almost too pretty to eat and the refreshing new Spritz cocktail menu will have you downing drinks with the sunset.
For those not familiar, Ibero-American is a region in the Americas that comprises countries where Spanish and Portuguese languages are predominant. The cuisine brings tangy twist and zesty texture to classic dishes, thus the lunch and dinner menu here is an interesting one. There's entrees of tacos (including a cactus, smoked tomato, ricotta salata and crema one), rock oysters a la Michelada or Tigre de Leche and an empanada with Red Chile wagyu, oxtail, potato and salsa roja, whilst mains include the likes of confit duck leg with Red Chile tamal and mole negro, Lamb Barbacoa slow-cooked in banana leaf and 'Chorizo y Papas' potato gnocchi with chorizo ragu and green tomato Pico di Gallo.
The Bottomless Sunday Lunch (suitable for 4-12 people) continues with bottomless bubbles and a grazing-style shared lunch feast for $88 per person. Book your crew in to enjoy the Chef's ceviche, spicy chicken tacos, roast barramundi fillets, flash-fried cauliflower with brown buttered almonds, a selection of cheeses, homemade lavosh, Mexican Pan Dulce (Hispanic pastries) and more.
Whatever you choose, be sure to leave room for dessert. The pop-up bar has 4 new South American-influenced masterpieces with each one plated up on Royal Doulton's new 1815 collection.
Sweet toothers, I know you want all the details, so here they are -
The Milhojas - a layered pastry (think mille-feuille) with vanilla cream, Dulce de Leche, pistachio and orange ice cream
The Arroz con Leche - a sweet and creamy rice-infused dessert with lemongrass, vanilla, blood orange shaved ice and meringue
Coconut Panacotta - with Jamaica or Mexican hibiscus, blueberry syrup and kiwifruit sorbet
Chocolate Semifreddo - with espresso Anejo caramel, cocoa masa streusel and Manuka honey
The mouth-watering desserts are $15 each or, if you can't decide, try 3 for $40 or enjoy all of them for $50. They are available 7 days with a lunch or dinner booking and if dessert is all you want then you can get them Mon-Thurs or from 6pm on Sundays.
Golden Hour (from 4pm-6pm every day) also continues and is the perfect time to partake in the new Spritz menu that consists of the Lillet Spritz, the Strawberry Spritz, the Grapefruit Spritz and the Blood Orange Spritz. During this happy hour, you can enjoy them for $12 each. That's good value for a cocktail in Sydney these days.
