I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
The Butcher's Block operates as a café during the day offering breakfasts and lunches to a diverse range of patrons. The proximity to Wahroonga station and local car parking is reflected by the busyness of the cafe. Dine inside the renovated butchery with its quirky decor or on the covered outdoor plant filled deck. Either way the service is attentive, efficient and friendly. Booking is possible and suggested for large groups but walk ins and takeaways are also catered for.
The lunch menu commences at midday but several dishes such as bruschetta, eggs Benedict and the green breakfast bowl are also on the breakfast menu. The Butcher's Cafe is licensed and serves alcohol with food from 10am. Coffee, tea, juices, smoothies and shakes are all on the menu, the Snickers Shake for $8 comes highly recommended.
The grilled chicken salad with beetroot, sumac chickpeas and pomegranate dressing is gluten free. The large serving was pronounced delicious and filling by my dining companion. I chose to lunch on the spanner crab omelette which was light and tasty but the delicate flavour of the crab was a bit lost under a strong taste of garlic.
Several of the menu items are available as gluten free options and plenty of the dishes are suitable for vegetarians. No other substitutions are made to the menu and there is a 10% surcharge on Sundays and public holidays.
Choose The Butcher's Block Cafe for delicious food and drinks with family and friends.
