Matt Byrne Media presents 'The Breakfast Club' live on stage. This recreation of the John Hughes classic 80s comedy movie comes to life at The Holden Street Theatre October 22nd running until November 8th.

It is the 30th anniversary of the year of the story, which was set at Shermer High School in Chicago, back in 1984. It's the story of five students with nothing in common who end up spending a Saturday detention together in their high school library.

"They represent five different groups in the school body - the nerds, the princesses, the jocks, the goths and the stoners," Byrne said.

At 7 am Saturday morning, they had nothing to say to each other, but as the day went on they bared their souls to one another and by 4pm they became good friends.

To the outside world they were simply The Brain (Jamie Hornsby), The Basket Case (Kristen Tommasini), The Criminal (James King), The Princess (Kacy Ratta) and The Athlete (Loccy Hywood), but to each other, they would always be the Breakfast Club. Staring Matt Byrne as Principal Richard Vernon.

Matt Byrne said "I have adapted the story for the stage, directed and designed the show, We have a great young Adelaide cast".

"The Breakfast Club is a much beloved film because it captured the dilemma facing a new generation, and gave us characters we could really identify with".

The Breakfast Club will run at Holden Street Theatres at 34 Holden Street, Hindmarsh from October 22 to 25, 29 to November 1 and November 5 to 8 at 8pm, and November 1 and 8 at 2pm.

Admission is $30 Adults and $25 Concession with Group Discounts for Groups of 10 or more - $27 Adults and $22 Concession.

Bookings are available on 8262 4906, online at the Matt Byrne Media website, BASS or Dramatix.
