The Boy With the Pink Hair is a picture book for children by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton. It's the story of a little boy who is born with pink hair, who is teased by other children at school for being different. His parents tell him to ignore those who make fun of him and support him in his passion for cooking. It is his cooking skills which ultimately earn him the respect of his classmates as well as fame and lots of friends. As his parents put it, his 'difference makes a difference'.

The illustrations are okay but I wasn't terribly impressed with the text. Writing a children's book isn't as easy as you might think and Perez hasn't quite mastered the art of making the words simple enough for children to understand while still sounding good. However, this is my perspective as an adult. My less critical four year old really enjoyed the book and tells me she wants to have pink hair herself. According to all the quotes on the back of the book, a host of celebrities, including Lady Gaga and Dolly Parton liked it too.

The book does contain a positive message about how it's okay to be different and I suppose kids can't ever hear that too often.
