The Boot Factory

Pentridge Village has an infamous past being the site of the Pentridge Prison. I have watched with interest how developers have revamped some of the historical bluestone buildings and one of the success stories within the Village is the Boot Factory.
Originally a utilitarian building it was been renovated into a warm welcoming café available for functions, take aways, breakfasts and lunches.
The interior is colourful and welcoming with a top section for functions. The counter has an assortment of biscuits and display sandwiches. There are a variety of wooden tables for couples or families and an assorted mix of chairs. The boot factory caters for all visitors from the quick caffeine fix to long weekend lunches and plenty of pram room.
Their coffee machine was pretty impressive. I enjoyed a good coffee from their friendly staff and because I had walked up the hill to get there, I was feeling hungry, so tucked into a Big Boots Breakfast. I had my eggs scrambled (you can have them anyway you want), bacon, mushrooms, roast tomato, sausage, chilli relish and toast. Then I wanted a nice lie down.
If you are after something less filling, you may want to try their green eggs and ham served on sourdough and dukkah mushrooms.
With a plethora of cafes in Melbourne, atmosphere is extremely important and the boot factory has a bright Mediterranean rustic feel to it that breaks up the monotony of blue stone walls that surround it. Worth a visit on a lazy weekend.
