According to the dictionary, a 'wedgie' 'is the act of pulling up the material of someone's underwear tightly between their buttocks as a practical joke.' And, from what I can remember from school days - 100 years or so ago - was usually a practical joke played on supposed nerds. Luckily, in our day, girls never wore shorts to school, so this uncomfortable sounding practical joke was usually reserved for our male counterparts.

The Big Wedgie is definitely not intended for nerds but is rather aimed at thrill seekers and those not predisposed to being faint-hearted. The Big Wedgie is the tallest and most extreme stand-alone inflatable waterslide in the whole world! The Big Wedgie comes in at a humungous 18.2 metres tall and eighty-two metres long! Can you believe that! What a whopper!

The Big Wedgie boasts a massive fifty-five degree drop down a steep slope, whilst being soaked in water. It also has a four-lane racer, so families and dare-devil buddies can compete together at the same time. Sharing definitely sounds like caring in this instance!

We are fortunate - depends what side of the slide you're on, top or bottom - to have the Big Wedgie at the Sunshine Coast Stadium from the 8 December 2018 to the 28 January 2019, which means a whole summer of slippery, sliding, watery fun!

Rules for the Big Wedgie

Wedgie Level: Extreme
Minimum height: 1.2m
Minimum age: 7 years
Maximum weight: 110kg

If the Big Wedgie sounds 'over the top' to you, then there's even going to be the Just Right Wedgie - the perfect slide for those looking for a 'just right' wedgie. The Just Right Wedgie is not quite as hectic as the Big Wedgie, but still guarantees loads of fun.

Rules for the Just Right Wedgie

Wedgie Level: Moderate
Minimum height: 0.8m
Minimum age: 3 years
Maximum weight: 60kg

The Little Wedgie is the smallest wedgie of them all - my style! The Little Wedgie is a mini version of the Big Wedgie - a three lane racer perfect for the littlies - now to check if it will withstand my big-girl weight!

Rules for the Little Wedgie

Wedgie Level: Minor (perfect … for me)
Minimum height: 0.8m (looking good … for me)
Minimum age: 3 years (yep, I'm onto it)
Maximum weight: 40kg (oh no, looks like cheerleading or perhaps an upgrade to the Just Right Wedgie is on the slides for me)

Cost of having a 'Wedgie' - yep, getting a 'wedgie' comes at a price

The Little Wedgie - twenty minutes unlimited = $15 per person
The Just Right Wedgie - twenty minutes unlimited = $15 per person
The Big Wedgie - three x slides = $15 per person
The Big Wedgie - seven x slides = $25 per person
The Little Wedgie - sixty minutes unlimited = $25 per person
The Just Right Wedgie - sixty minutes unlimited = $25 per person
The Big Wedgie - sixty minutes unlimited = $35 per person

You can buy your tickets online here (beats standing in queues) and there are even some additional online specials, so might be worth your while to take a peek.

Sunshine Coast, are you ready to get wedgied?
