Next time you're in the Central Markets be sure to stop past stall 39/40, Southern Roadway and be overwhelmed with the colour and vibrancy that is Big Table. Known for their breakfasts, baguettes and gourmet salads, their food is always fresh and original and highly sought after.
A favourite of mine is the veggie burger. Not so much a burger as it is a veggie patty in a roll, it is hearty and filling and undeniably tasty. The patty is made of sweet potato and lentils and the sizing is more than generous.
It's placed between a sour dough roll along with tomato chutney, baby spinach and cheddar cheese. The sweetness of the tomato chutney mixes famously with the earthy flavours of the lentils and sweet potato and tastes even better when toasted.
At $8.90 it's perhaps not a lunch you'd want to buy on a daily basis, however, it's certainly more than reasonable for a once a week luncheon.
I'm always looking for new places to try in the Central Markets, I'll have to give this one a go! Usually I stick to Zed'z Cafe because I love their baguettes and their juices, but there are so many tasty places to go.
I do love a good veggie burger.. This one sounds like a great combo.
