The extraordinary story of an ordinary family

The Depot Theatre is proud to present the Australian premiere of THE BIG MEAL, a critically acclaimed play by award-winning screenwriter Dan LeFranc this Spring.

Dan LeFranc's, THE BIG MEAL received its world premiere at American Theatre Company in Chicago, where it was declared the "#1 Play of 2011" by Time Out Chicago and garnered five Joseph Jefferson Award nominations. The play received its off-Broadway premiere at Playwrights Horizons, where it picked up a Drama Desk nomination and four Lucille Lortel nominations, including for Outstanding Play.

In a typical restaurant, on a typical night, THE BIG MEAL tells the extraordinary story of an ordinary family.

Somewhere in America, in a typical suburban restaurant on a typical night, Sam and Nicole first meet. Sparks fly. And so begins an expansive tale that traverses five generations of a modern family, from first kiss to final goodbye. THE BIG MEAL is a stunning, big-hearted play that spans nearly eighty years in roughly ninety minutes.

The Australian premiere production is part of The Depot Theatre's 2017 season. It is directed by co-artistic director, Julie Baz and designed by fellow co-artistic director, David Jeffrey, with lighting design by Mehran Mortezaei and sound design by Thomas E. Moore. The show features a terrific line up of some of Sydney's best indie theatre talent, including Cormac Costello, Emily Dreyer, Angus Evans, Suzann James, David Jeffrey, Tasha O'Brien, Brendan Paul and Kaitlyn Thor.

Tickets are now on sale for the strictly limited season of THE BIG MEAL by Dan LeFranc at The Depot Theatre.
