The Big Freeze Winter Festival under the Big Top is returning to the Fountain Gate Shopping Centre this July. The coolest winter fun you'll find off the snowfields themselves, there are activities to suit the whole family. Comprising nine interactive zones inside the Winter Wonderland Big Top tent, along with free live entertainment in the Community Precinct, choose your start time from one of the three daily sessions. The Big Freeze Winter Festival is only in town for the first week of school holidays so best book now to avoid disappointment.

Set in the South Eastern suburbs, The Big Freeze Festival makes real snow play accessible to everyone without the long drive and expense. If you've never seen - or felt - real snow, then this is the ideal opportunity for you. Submerse yourself in this enclosed winter wonderland. Dance through the magical forest, stroll the streets of a snow covered miniature town and be the centrepiece in your very own snowglobe. Whizz down the ice and inflatable slides, construct your own igloo, then try to conquer the obstacle course. Though this is a trip intended for the whole family, most of the activities have been designed specifically for the 2 to 12 age bracket.

The Big Freeze Festival is running through the first week of the semester break - Saturday 1st July to Sunday 9th July 2017 – and will include nine (9) very different, fun and interesting interactive zones. Best suited to children aged 2 to 12 years, children under 2 years are welcome to come along and enjoy the free play, snow pit area.

The nine interactive zones include:
The Snow Play Area – Play in a field of real snow for that authentic snowfield experience. Suitable for all ages you can build a snowman, roll a snowball or even make a snow angel.
Snow Slide – Enjoy unlimited rides down the dual sliding ramps. This year two sizes will be on offer to accommodate every age group.
Snow Forest – Take a walk through this magical, white frosted forest and enjoy the falling snow.
Winter Village – What is it like to live in a snow covered village? With a sprinkling of imagination you can bring this little town - complete with café, hospital, market, jail and more - to life.
Snow Globe – Step inside this magical snow globe and you become the centrepiece. The ultimate Big Freeze Festival photo keepsake.
Slide Races – How fast can you go on the inflatable polar bear slide? Enjoy unlimited rides when you slide your way down this activity.
Snowball Toss – Warm up with some very cool sport when you try this South Pole, ten-pin-styled bowling with a difference. Score a strike by knocking down the 'penguin' bowling pins with a snowball.
Construction Zone – Here's a chance to build an igloo and live like an Eskimo - or if you'd prefer visit the Lego play section for some coloured brick fun. From big blocks to small blocks, this area has it all for little constructionists.
Kids' Challenge – Tackle the 60m long obstacle course in the ultimate physical challenge designed especially for kids.
Circus Zone – Learn some fancy new circus styled tricks to impress your family and friends.
Micador Art'n'Craft – The craft centre will offer four different activities. Make and create, then take your masterpieces home with you.

The Community Precinct of The Big Freeze Festival is open from 8.45am to 5.30pm and entry to this area inside the tent is free. Unaffected by Melbourne's unpredictable weather, don't miss one of the two FREE daily appearances by Charlie Sillipants and the Invisible Snowball. Shows commence at 11.45am and again at 1.30pm. Please note: Space for each show is strictly limited so please arrive early to avoid disappointment.

Alongside the main stage in the Community Precinct will be a tempting array of food vendors. There's no doubt snow play makes you hungry. Enjoy lunch or something sweet for afternoon tea as part of your visit.

The Big Freeze festival is a real snow play activity centre. Therefore, the temperature inside the big top is freezing. Snow is icy and wet, so layered, preferably waterproof clothing, is highly recommended – as is a change of clothes for afterwards. Organisers suggest gumboots as the most appropriate choice of footwear.

A family room will provide a changing and feeding area and the festival itself is generally 'wheel friendly,' accommodating wheelchairs and prams to most – but not all – activity areas. Pram parking will be available beside the snow pit.

In Fountain Gate during the first week of the school holidays - from the 1st of July to 9th July 2017 - The Big Freeze Festival Big Top tent will be located on the grassed area at 352 Princes Highway, Narre Warren, across from Lillipop's Play Centre and Toys'R'Us. You'll find the entrance and box on Brechin Drive, Fountain Gate, with ample free parking in the Fountain Gate Shopping Centre.
