For many people, red is set to be a lucky colour. After all it exudes power, and when it comes to the law it is there to keep us safe. There have been some known quirky facts about the colour red. For instance, at a house auction, for success wear something red to it for instance. In this article, this is where the best red coloured things in life come to life in bliss and gratitude for what we have.

1. Your Heart

A vital organ that pumps blood to provide us with oxygen so we can breathe. Anyone who has gone into any form of cardiac arrest can appreciate the importance of this organ to keep beating, to keep us alive, functioning and enjoying life.

2. Blood

A much needed component of our bodies for oxygen to our cells so our bodies can function at their optimum levels. Blood transports nutrients to our cells, and also helps to transport and eliminate toxins out of our different body systems to keep us healthy. Anyone who has been involved in an accident, is diabetic or who accidentally cuts themselves appreciates the importance of blood. You do not need to be a Doctor to know that if someone experiences low or high blood pressure, the body is at stress. Anyone who has ever undergone a blood transfusion will appreciate the importance of blood, and in more so appreciating those of us who are able to give blood or plasma.

3. Red Wine

With grapes and antioxidants, a glass of quality red wine is actually good for you. A great, simple treat in order to unwind. A glass of Pinor Noir goes great with pork, while the more spicy Shiraz goes great with any beef cut including steak in particular. For something more mellow, a Merlot is great alone, while a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon is great with well cooked duck.

4. Red Meat

For those of you who are vegans or vegetarians, I apologise. For those of you who eat red meat, you're obtaining a good source of protein and iron without the need to take too many supplements. Red meat is rather filling too, although dieticians say that this treat should not be the star performer of your dish, and should be eaten in moderation.

5. Strawberries

A nice, sweet guilt free fruit that is great in smoothies or eaten alone. Like any fruit, strawberries are best consumed when in season. For those who live in Sydney, or if you ever find yourself in Sydney, it is worth trying a chocolate dipped strawberry at the David Jones food hall in the city. For $3 a pop, great value is enjoyed and this strawberry treat is so heavenly.

6. Red Nose Day

A great fundraising initiative comes in red in Australia. Red Nose Day is usually held on the last Friday in June to raise much needed funds for research and a cure towards Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The campaign will be celebrating its 26th anniversary in 2013, this year as at the time of writing this.

7. Little Red Riding Hood

A sweet children's character who is otherwise known as Little Red Cap or Red Riding Hood. A French fairytale with a big bad wolf involved. A fantastic fictional piece of work.

8. A Christmas Colour

Although the Christmas season has just left us (as at the time of writing this), red is a festive colour that combines nicely with the Christmas festivities. Santa's suit is red.

Red is also the colour of 'love' and who doesn't want to receive a red rose or three? The best things in life do come in the colour red.
