A chewy warm crust, rich tomato sauce and fresh milky mozzarella. Three key components for the simplest yet most fulfilling of foods.

Adelaide has an endless supply of pizza bars and chains, escaping the presence of shredded ham and tasty cheese can be like finding a needle in a haystack. We've compiled are the places to visit when you want to make pizza a full dining experience.

Antica (Morphett St & King William Road)
The sleek fit out of both stores matches their modern approach to Italian food. Their signature twist is a metre-long pizza with a choice of 3 toppings or a Nutella option for dessert. The menu focuses heavily on sharing so is a great option for groups and celebrations.

Croydon Social
Not the first place that comes to mind when thinking Adelaide pizza, but this eatery comes from a quality baking background. Started by Red Door Bakery, famed for their pastries, the attention to detail is no less when it comes to pizza. The dough is soft and chewy with a carefully developed secret recipe. Toppings rotate but are kept seasonal and fresh.

Etica
Quietly tucked away next to Gilles Street Primary School, this vera certified pizzeria offers the only completely authentic Neapolitan pizza experience in SA. The menu rotates and focuses on seasonal, fresh produce. The pizzas cook in under 90 seconds and boast a signature blistered crust.

Napoli Pizzeria
Outside of the city on Henley Beach road this suburban gem is ready to give takeaways a run for their money. The theme is classic and simple with thoughtfully topped pizzas favouring quality over quantity. Takeaway is common but guests can also opt to dine in at checked cloth tables and dream about an evening in Naples.

Pizza e Mozzarella Bar
Located in the business district, this Pirie Street eatery opens for lunch Monday to Friday and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Its two wood ovens do all of the cooking for the entire restaurant and also services their sandwich counter (Chicken & Pig) down the street.

Pizzateca
After a little bit of travel, you'll be greeted by this beautiful pizzeria set up in a converted house. With tables spilling out in to the yard and a view of the grapevines, the location can host a casual lunch or romantic date. Open only on weekends, it's the perfect excuse for a daytrip to MclarenVale. Just be sure to book.

Tony Tomatoes
Don't be fooled by the playful name. Though the venue is family friendly the food is taken very seriously. Pizza is made with aged dough flour and topped simply. A nice crunch on the crust holds up when lifting a slice and is suited to those who favour a crisper base. The prosciutto and stracciatella is definitely one to try.
