Beautiful landscapes, a lot of history to be retraced in museums as well as in the streets, delicious dishes - Europe has not lost its charm. However, the cost of accommodation and the pricey restaurants can become an obstacle for all those who want to travel through the Old Continent. Indeed, most European countries are expensive, but there are still some that do not empty your pockets. Here are the best European destinations for budget travelers:

Greece – especially the islands

Greece is the perfect destination for some island hopping. The concept may seem too luxurious, but this is not necessarily true when talking about Greece, at least not now. Fortunately (or unfortunately), the economic difficulties did not end. The beautiful Greek beaches are quieter, and everything looks a bit cheaper than normal. Now it's the time to visit islands like Hydra and Kefalonia without spending a fortune. Stroll on the streets of Santorini bordered by white houses, admire the landscape from the terasse of a luxury villa while still remaining on a budget.

Lisbon – a romantic destination for less

Your money pay for a longer stay in the charming and hilly Portuguese capital city. Budget hotels are scattered throughout the town, food is cheap and delicious. For instance, with coffee and pastel de nata for breakfast, you will pay less than one euro. A ride in Lisbon's old tram is highly romantic and costs very little. Lisbon's free museums are great and the same goes for the beaches located in the south of the city. When you get tired of Lisbon's urban beauty, you can lie on the royal beaches of Cascais and Estoril.

Berlin – party all night

The center of the European economy, Berlin is also a great city for budget travelers. What does Berlin have to offer? Great contemporary art museums, iconic landmarks reminding different stages in the European history, fascinating shops and lovely restaurants, plus a lively night life that costs a lot less than if you were partying in Rome, London or Paris.

Istanbul – enjoy the mix of cultures

On the border between two worlds, and a list of attractions that can keep you busy for days, Istanbul is a great city to visit if you are on a budget. At the end of a long restoration process, Aya Sofya is more impressive than ever. Food is cheap and authentic. Here you can taste the best of the best when it comes to oriental dishes. The wide range of budget hotels and cheap flights make the Turkish capital a city worth visiting. Life in general is less expensive in Istanbul than in other European cities, which contributes greatly to the satisfaction of the budget traveler.
