Almost anything can be a fun game if you're drinking, especially if it is with fantastic and lively people. What truly makes a game great, though? What's the real test of a game and how much fun it really is? In my book, one of the great tests is to see how fun the game really is when you're playing sober. Let's put three of my personal favourite games to the test and figure out which of these is the best to play while sober, thus determining which the best game is overall. If you don't drink at all, you've probably got the best input, so I truly invite your comments below.

1. Cards Against Humanity

Described on its own website as a party game for horrible people, Cards Against Humanity is a hilarious game. This game is super easy to play. The first player will ask a question from their black card, and then everyone else who is playing must answer with a white one. Hilarity ensues because of the awkward things that are often said. This game is also cheap, and there is an Australian version of it. You can actually download and print Cards Against Humanity for free, so you'll only be paying for your printing costs. The site says that this is approximately $10.

2. Never Have I Ever

This is another verbally charged game. These ones seem to be the most fun for lively groups and can keep going for hours and hours. Never Have I Ever is a game similar to Truth or Dare, in that someone says the words "Never Have I Ever" and then makes a scandalous suggestion, after which everyone must say whether they have done it or not. There is a website by the name of Nnnever.com which contains a tonne of questions for everyone to ask, in case you run out. If you're that into it, you can also contribute your own questions.

3. Beer Pong
Beer Pong is a funny and messy game that involves a ping pong table, ping pong ball, beer and cups. A triangular formed of 6 to 10 cups is made at the end of each table. Beer is poured into each of the cups. The aim of the game is to take turns throwing the ping pong ball into the opposing team's cups. If you are successful, the opposing team must drink the beer from that cup. This reduces the amount of cups you have left to hit the ball into. If you break any number of rules, such as accidentally throwing the ball into your own cup, you can be penalised and thus be required to drink from your own side's cups so you must be careful. A hilarious game that often becomes one-sided, especially if a particular team gets a head start. In terms of playing this game while sober, I have played Water Pong and it was also quite funny. However, it was summer and I was in great company so I may be biased.

Other awesome games include Twister (although some might argue that only those with physical ability can truly enjoy Twister), chess, Monopoly, battleships, Connect 4, Jenga, and all of the card games. These and other games are really fun to play at all times, but it is incredibly entertaining to watch people try to play them while they are intoxicated. I'm not meaning to make that sound silly or mean, we both know that it can be hilarious, often more entertaining than any game. You know my favourite drinking games to play while sober, so what are yours?
