The Beer Mile

I'm not a huge lover of beer, so it proves to be a challenge each year when I enter the annual Beer Mile Competition, an event which celebrates Australia Day.

The Starting Point

Want to do something different next year for one of the biggest days in our nation? Don't stress, you don't have to ditch the beer, The Beer Mile wants you drink beer - and lots of it.

Each competitor in the race has to skull a can of beer before taking off on their first 400 metres running lap. When you reach the starting point again, down another can of the stuff and yes, that's right, off you go to complete another 400 metres. This happens for 4 laps.

Trying To Skull My Beer

Competitors must drink can or bottled beer and cannot be less than 355ml. Ladies can also partake in this drinking, crazy mess.

Anyone who regurgitates the yeasty beverage before the end of the race is penalised and has to complete a penalty lap at the end of their 4 laps.

Another Successful Competitor

A BBQ sausage sizzle is available after the event so it really does include all the classic Australia Day essentials: beer and a BBQ.

Organised by the running group 'The Run Inn,' this event is to raise funds and ensure a great afternoon of Aussie fun.
