Visit the Award Winning Gardens and Historic Train Station
If you are headed out on the Warrego Highway, there's one wonderful place that you must stop at – though it is a little off the Highway. Follow the signs from Hellidon Spa towards Murphy's Creek and you will soon find this little bit of paradise, Spring Bluff Station, lovingly restored by the staff and volunteers.

The Spring Bluff Railway Station is a Heritage Listed site located on the main railway line between Ipswich and Toowoomba, though the it is mainly coal and freight trains that use the line these days, although on special occasions one can catch a train from Toowoomba to Spring Bluff.

The railway line's history goes back to 1864 when the railway construction was commenced. On April 26th 1867 the first train from Ipswich to Toowoomba passed through the Spring Bluff station.

"In 1913, the station handled more than 5500 passengers. Today, the passing of steam trains and the introduction of the centralised traffic control system has brought down the curtain on Spring Bluff as an operational station. The station was decommissioned in August 1992, and the ganger and fettler crew withdrawn in September 1993. The importance of the station was recognised by the National Trust of Queensland which listed the Main Range Railway on its Register in March 1994"

These days it is a popular spot for tourists, especially during the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers. This year, 2015, the station won First Prize in the Garden Competition, which is no surprise as the garden is certainly spectacular.

There's a café on site which is open Thursdays to Sundays from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, and it is open every day in September and October but check the café's website for more information. Visit the website for more information

So do go and visit and learn more about the interesting history of the station. Please note, that because of the uneven terrain, it is not wheelchair friendly.
