Raising the Rooftop: It's Brisbane’s Newest Must-Visit Location



What makes the perfect night out? Is it the food, the drinks, the atmosphere - or the magical combination of all three? If your answer leans towards the latter, then The Beaumont Beer Garden is about to become your new favourite rooftop retreat.

The only way is up baby, and Brisbane just got a whole lot higher. The Beaumont Beer Garden, Fortitude Valley’s newest sky-high sanctuary of sips, snacks, and seriously good vibes, is here to give you a good time for a long time. I was lucky enough to snag an exclusive preview before April 7th’s grand opening, and let me tell you, it was an experience as refreshing as a crisp Aussie Sunrise cocktail on a summer’s day.



First things first: the food. It’s not just good; it’s “cancel-your-dinner-plans-and-come-here-instead” good. Head Chef Joshua Kelly has taken the best of Australia’s native ingredients and turned them into dishes that are both playful and packed with flavour. The Byron Bay burrata, paired with chargrilled mango and witlof salad, is so fresh it practically introduces itself. The smoky Mooloolaba king prawns, dripping in red gum and garlic butter, are an absolute must—unless, of course, you’d rather take a walk on the wild side with the Crocodile and lemon myrtle spring rolls. (Nothing like a little reptilian snack to keep your taste buds on their toes.)



Feeling peckish but not in the mood for anything that might bite back? The wood-fired pizzas are an inspired mix of classic and creative, from the Spicy Surfer, which proves that pineapple on pizza is a hill worth dying on, to The Outback, a rugged combination of lemon myrtle kangaroo and Kakadu plum glaze. Even the sides have personality—Vegemite fries, anyone? They might sound like a dare, but one bite in and you’ll wonder why this hasn’t been a pub staple for years. My mouth was a happy little Vegemite when I tried them!



And then, there are the drinks. Oh, the drinks. The Outback Blaze Marg, with its bush tomato and chilli-infused agave, has just the right amount of kick, while the Milo Flip is the kind of adult nostalgia trip you didn’t know you needed. Be careful though – it’s like a delicious dessert so you just mind find it addictive!



If you’re after something that whispers “I make excellent decisions,” go for the Aussie Sunrise, a vibrant mix of vodka, finger limes, and Kakadu plum syrup. But if you’re feeling bold (or just need an excuse to say “Release the Kraken!” out loud), the macadamia-and-coconut rum concoction of the same name is the ultimate nightcap under the stars.



Beyond the food and drinks, the atmosphere is an absolute winner. The Beaumont manages to blend the charm of a classic Aussie beer garden with classy, modern rooftop vibes. With timber and iron accents, vintage signage, and heaps of plants adding a natural touch, it feels like a little slice of the great outdoors—just with better seating and a well-stocked bar. Oh, and did I mention the swimming pool? Yup. There’s a pool.



Adding to the atmosphere are the city skyline and twinkling lights, and the up-tempo music to keep your toes tapping. The warm festoon lighting sets the perfect mood for long, laughter-filled evenings, whether you’re catching up with mates or making new ones.
