Wake Up at The Beach Shak Cafe
I wrote about this popular Café at Beachmere some years ago. There have been some changes.
There are new owners, new menu, and new items to purchase. It still offers the quality of coffee that the locals and visitors enjoy, and there's more variety on the menu. And it is still popular for weekend breakfast.
As well, there's wifi too – you'll need to request the day's password to log on, but you can sit and enjoy your coffee and food and catch up with your friends on Facebook or check your mail or the news online.
It is very popular with grandparents as well as parents, for they can leave the children in the fenced playground opposite and watch them from the café, while enjoying an element of peace. The kids love the playground with its adventurous climbing and riding playthings to master. There are often other children in the playground too, so they may catch up with friends or make new ones. There are a few trees around so there is some shade there too.
On Friday mornings, the Mobile Library visits Beachmere – so if you are a member of the Moreton Bay Regional Council's Library, you might just find that special book on the shelves of the big bus.
Dogs are welcome too at The Beach Shak – and it is not far from the lovely off-leash area for the dogs to run along the sand at low tide at the end of the street. There's also an off-leash area in nearby Clayton Park.
Humans with dogs will need to sit on the pavement dining area, but there is a popular air conditioned room for those who don't need to supervise a fluff ball. In the heat of summer, the room is very popular.
Oh, and if you want to have a private party or meeting, let Amanda know. She's happy to let you use the air conditioned room and a most reasonable rate. Call her on 0408 878 550 or check their Facebook page.
They are open seven days a week, from 6.30 am to 2.30 pm.
