Queensland Baroque are kicking off their 2019 season with a stunning concert of the music of Johann Sebastian Bach, featuring special guest Madeleine Easton on Baroque violin. Bach's music is known for

The orchestra, which perform on period instruments tuned to the Baroque pitch of A415, is made up of some of Brisbane's finest musicians. Avid lovers of the Baroque genre, this ensemble strives to recreate the sounds and artistry of the 18th Century in our busy contemporary world.

Be transported to a different age as the orchestra perform some of Bach's most famous works, the Overture in G minor BWV 1070 and the Brandenburg Concerto no.3 in G minor BWV 1048, along with the Violin Concerto in A minor BWV 1041 and the Brandenburg Concerto no.4 in G major BWV 1049, all on period instruments, including recorders played by Yvette Friend and Kathy Williams-DeVries.

The orchestra will be directed by Madeleine Easton, a virtuoso on the baroque violin and artistic director of Bach Akademie Australia. Madeleine has performed as concertmaster and as a soloist of many leading orchestras worldwide, including The English Baroque Soloists, The Kings Consort and the Gabrieli Consort. She was appointed concertmaster of The Hanover Band in 2006 and continues to perform with them as both leader, director and soloist.

The concert will take place in the lofty surrounds of Saint Andrew's Uniting Church on Ann Street, an appropriate venue considering one of Bach's own quotes,

"The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul".

It will take place at 2pm on Sunday 17th February. It is a fitting venue in which to perform this beautiful program. Tickets are $25 - $ 35 and are available by visiting the Trybooking Website or at the door.
