The Avoca Hotel has all your usual facilities and services: drinks bar, restaurant, pokie machines, drive through liquor store, and a car park out the back. Whether you sit outside in the sunshine or inside with the indoor heater, the Avoca Hotel is neat and modern.
For lunch, I found sitting on cushioned seats in the bar the way to go. The Avoca Hotel menu is extensive. You have your usual "pub grub" of schnitzels, burgers, steak, pizza, pasta, salads, with a few entrees thrown in.
I decided to go for something different: an Indian Thali plate, which is a shared platter between my partner and myself, consisting of prawn cutlets, tandoori chicken, beef madras curry, with rice and naan. Believe me, that is more than enough.
After almost (we tried our best) finishing off our platter, we decided on something sweet to satisfy our tummies. We shared an Avoca affogato. The sweetness of the vanilla bean ice cream perfectly balanced the bitterness of the espresso shot. A fantastic way to end lunch, as the caffeine boost provided me the energy for the rest of our busy afternoon.
Next time, I think I might drop in on a Monday or a Tuesday, when they have $10 schnitzels. Hope to see you there too!
