There is a gold mine of young talent around Perth that a lot of us are missing out on. From reading my previous article, some of you may know that my favoured social outing is going to Little Lebanon Shisha. Unfortunately for a struggling university student like myself, my wallet nor my health could afford to keep up with this habit.
Which is why The Aviary gets even better - it doesn't cost a cent to get in.
I guess that's why they say the best things in life are free.
Empire - a group of 5 talented, aesthetically and audibly pleasing young men are what gives The Aviary flight. Their stage presence, amazing covers, improvisation abilities and raw skill are things that are projected from the get go with these guys.
They play a range of contemporary RnB and hip hop tracks, old and new school. But they add that extra dimension to what they play, I think it's because when you see and hear people doing something that they truly love - it radiates.
This is the perfect place to go to get a little bit dressed up, share a couple of drinks with friends and dance they night away. I don't know about you, but I'd much prefer this to the heat, invasion of personal space and sticky floors that clubs tend to offer. I love the people you meet there, it's a perfect balance between socialising and dancing and anyone is welcome there. I've seen the old and young getting down to the beats of Kanye West, Beyonce, Nelly and more.
One of the quotes that Empire posted on their wall was - "The best thing about live music is that you're witnessing something that has never happened before, and something that will never happen again".
Every Thursday is different, and just as good as the last, I'm yet to have an average night there (touch wood) and it's a place that I highly recommend to anyone that loves music and wants to try out something new.
