Looking for the hidden gems of the world!
- Living in Dandenong ranges Australia
What could be a more Australian weekend than celebrating our nation's sport at the MCG. It can often be hard in winter to find something for the whole family to do when the weather is too awful to go to the park or have a BBQ. However the MCG offers undercover seats and plenty of shelter for you and your family to watch the game and sit back.
Transport is made easy by public transport to the MCG. Depending on your train line the Joliment stop offers a 5 minute stroll to the stadium, or those on the Pakenham, Belgrave, Lilydale, Alemain, Frankston, Glen Waverly, Dandenong or Cranbourne line can get off at the Richmond stop and walk over to the MCG. If you decide to stay in the city tram routes 48, 70 and 75 provide access to the MCG aswell. Parking is made available at the event for $10 with plenty of spots available.
The MCG has plenty of food available for the whole family! From budget friendly meals at Red Rooster to drinks at the bar and souvalakis and burgers from the food vans, the whole family will be covered.
The MCG provides entertainment for all walks of life, whether you're a footy fan or not the atmosphere will leave you walking away wanting more.
Pricing is affordable starting at $5 and children are free on Sundays with the purchase of an adults ticket.
Throughout the season the MCG hosts special games to commemorate the ANZACs and dreamtyme. I recently attended the 2016 ANZAC day match and it was one to remember. The bands did an excellent job at hyping up the audience, whilst their service to remember our ANZACs was truly moving.
