Devondale's dairy farmer co-op will be bringing a piece of the country to the city in July, as The Big Matilda comes to town. That's right, forget the Big Banana, Big Merino and the Giant Prawn, soon Sydney will finally have its own big thing, at least temporarily, with the giant cow to be found outside Customs House on Wednesday July 9.
Matilda will be herded into place by Dr. Chris Brown (from Channel Ten's Bondi Vet) and bring with her another Aussie icon: the Milk Bar. Once in place, it will not only be a monument to the 2500 farmers in the Devondale co-op and their produce, but everyone is welcome to come down and try (for free) some of the fresh, local milk that Devondale farmers have produced. You can also meet the Devondale farmers and their families, learn about the cows that are behind the products and get an understanding of how milk is made in Australia.
Both The Big Matilda and her pop-up Milk Bar will open from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
