As a coffee lover one of the most exciting things you can read is 'new coffee shop opening.' One of the least exciting things is the guilt you feel when you sneak away from your staple fav barista's to try the new girls on the block.
But sneak I did and while I still luuurve my fav, The Attic is a breath of fresh air and organic spelt choc chip cookies.
Sarah, Shamara and Claire are brewing Duckinwilla regular blend coffee at The Attic. This excellent full body bean is served with sparkly smiles above kids clothing shop The Crooked Cubby on James Street.
In a previous life the girls from The Attic were the life force behind Cruisin By on Farnborough Road. This quirky coffee haunt stood out from the crowd by stocking local artwork, jewellery, SUP's, surfboards and upcycled furniture by cap coast artisans. You could also hire a SUP, surfboard or bicycle or two.
Now at The Attic, located in a bright, breezy, organic location, the girls combine their barista skills with the businesses of local bespoke clothing designer Leah Gray of Girls throw Rocks, upcycled furniture whizzes Brian and Adrienne Fisher of patsy who? In this white washed, sunny, upstairs locale, you can even take a yoga class with Mikayla of Inner Journeys.
The journey upstairs to see the girls is up a pretty steep set of stairs but don't let that deter you, there's a great green space downstairs for prams, kids and those not fond of climb. The new caffeine fuelled venture is sure to be a success on the café circuit of Yeppoon.
Don't call their number yet though because Telstra are still working on connecting the landline! Get hold of the girls through their Facebook page.
