Life is about the journey - some roads are not always what they seem but you sure learn a great deal from them!
Undoubtedly, Lance Armstrong brought about a global phenomenon by winning the Tour de France 7 times back to back. Up until he his wins, there was only two other riders that were able to win the Tour de France back to back, namely Eddy Mercx and Miguel Indurain. The Tour de France is notorious for its gruelling mountain climbs and it extraordinary length.

The significance of Armstrong's win was not only that he won the event back to back, but he won it after winning his battle with cancer. And, while the world watched on, the cycling industry began to witness history in the making with an increase in participants in the sport. Every facet of cycling was reaping the rewards. Cycling had hit its pinnacle for the first time in history.
From the moment he won his first race, Armstrong was under the watch of the drug authorities. There were many riders who wanted to take this giant down, and Armstrong would under-go years of drug test which resulted in a negative every time.
It was not until recently, did the huge drug scandal unfold. Of course, this had massive repercussions not only the cancer foundation that helped many cancer victims, but also the cycling fraternity who saw a sudden drop in participation and sales in the industry.
On Thursday the 13 March 2014, you can watch the whole cycling affair in the movie: " The Armstrong Lie". It is already picking up a number of reviews, and it is said to be one of best cycling movies ever produced.
Tickets are $20.00 per person, with funds going to 'The Kids Cancer Project'. It will be held at Cinema Nova in Carlton.
