Legendary 'Old Bushy Entertainer' sings for the kids
Community based non-profit charity ForCHILDREN is delighted to have self-proclaimed 'old bushy' entertainer Ted Egan perform at a fundraiser event which will take place at 2.30pm on Sunday 30th April. Funds raised from the event will contribute to the Chances programs, which benefit disadvantaged youth, and Aboriginal students in the Kimberley. The programs are designed to support young people who want to pursue their dreams but lack the funding and support to do so.

Egan is legendary around Australia as a talented folk musician, composer and performer, as well as being a former Administrator of the Northern Territory.

He is also an author, with his works including The ANZACs 100 Years On - In Story and Song, a commemoration of the centenary of the ANZACs in World War 1. In this book, Egan has collated a historical documentation of the ANZACs, the citizens of Australia and New Zealand, and the effect of World War 1 on these nations. His book includes diaries, private letters, photographs, songs, anecdotes and quotes from many of the ANZACs.

"Since I left my Melbourne birthplace at age 16 I have been fascinated by Australian history, its unique people and the Australian way of life, in this, perhaps the most multi-cultural nation on earth. For the past 40 years I have been writing and recording songs, filming and writing about the Australian people who represent the real ethos of this country", says Egan.

Recognising that the ANZACs faced many barriers, Egan and ForCHILDREN hope to aid today's youth in having a smoother passage through life. Egan will be performing many of the songs and telling anecdotes from his book at the concert.

The venue for the concert is Coates Pavilion, Wesley College, 620 High Street, Glen Waverley. Tickets are full: $50, concession/child: $25, which includes afternoon tea. Click here to buy your tickets online.
