When it comes to shopping everyone has their own tastes. Whether you prefer massive malls, busy high streets, quirky stores or bagging a bargain, Melbourne has it all.

1) Bourke Street, CBD
Bourke Street is great for tourists and anyone who has cash to splash. Iconic department stores like Myer and David Jones stock everything from high end fashion, to beauty, fragrances and homeware. Bourke Street is a typical bustling high street, with a huge range of stores, eateries and cafes all close by. If you're looking for smaller, independent stores that are a bit more quirky, take a stroll down some of the surrounding lanes where there are many hidden gems to be discovered.
For a coffee and sweet treat head into the GPO building which has some of the tastiest macaroons.

2) Bridge Road, Richmond
If you're shopping on a budget then Bridge Road should be top of your list. It has a lot of the same stores you'll find all over Melbourne, but with a discount slapped on it. A lot of the clothes are out of season, but for a quarter and even sometimes over half the price, who can complain? For discount clothing check out Portmans and Cotton On.

Lunching whilst you shop? Try The Groove Train for a range of delicious meals including pizza, pasta and noodles.

3) Chadstone shopping centre, Chadstone
Known as the fashion capital, Chadstone is a huge mall with every type of store and place to eat. With two huge food courts and a range of restaurants you'll be tempted to visit just for the food. Chadstone is like Melbourne CBD, Bridge Road and Chapel Street all rolled into one handy mall. Allow yourself a whole day if you want to visit every store and if you're driving be sure to get there early if you don't want to fight for a parking space. Tourists can travel to Chadstone for free on the shuttle bus departing from Federation Square, for more information call 1300 668467.

If you need to rest your feet during your trip, why not stop and indulge at the Lindt Chocolate Cafe for a coffee and a slice of their mouth watering chocolate and banana cake?

4) Westfield, Doncaster
Westfield is a slightly smaller version of Chadstone, minus some of the cheaper stores. So if you don't mind paying extra it's definitely worth a visit. Malls like Westfield are always a fun day out for a group of girlfriends, or even the family. There's also lots of massage parlours to try out if your shopping bags are getting a bit too heavy on your shoulders. Westfield has some of the Aussie favourites like Forever New and Dotti, as well as the more expensive Karen Millen and MaxMara.

Fancy doing your weekly food shop at Westfield? Check out the Colonial Fresh Markets.

5) Chapel Street, Prahran/South Yarra
Chapel Street is one of the more overrated streets for shopping. It won't take you long to browse the shops, but it is a busy street with lots of nice cafes, bars and restaurants for when you're taking a break from the shops. It does provide a nice change of scene from the CBD or some of the malls and does have a good range of high end brand named stores like Allanah Hill and Kookai, as well as the cheaper stores like Cotton On and Rivers.

Feel like catching a movie whilst you're out? Head to the Village Cinema at the Jam Factory.
