Allan Karlsson is a 100 year old man living in a retirement home.
On the day of his 100 birthday, he simply decides it is not too late to start over; so he climbs out the window, leaving his secure nest and a very loud nurse behind.



With slow mobility and little money Allan still manages to go to the nearest bus station and buy a ticket to anywhere, but when a loud young man enters the station with a large suit case and the urge to go to the toilet, Allan finds himself in what is the start of a long adventure, a complex knot of funny situations and characters. However none of this fazes the old man, as this is the way he has lived his entire life; in the hands of destiny and luck.


The movie is narrated by the 100 year old. It will have you laughing and wondering at life's funny ways and how odd destiny can be if we simply take chances or live oblivious to it.

Throughout the film nothing will surprise you; a dinner with Franco, a circus elephant living in a regular home, an eternal student who has "almost" completed numerous degrees, Allan's life long passion for explosives, Stalin dancing, and long term memory loss, just to name a few. However all these random situations, people and stories, have been put together perfectly to create Allan's life story. It's a heart warming film that will certainly put life into perspective, question our views of the future and teach us how easy it can be to simply be ourselves.

The film is by Felix Herngren, based on the international best selling novel by Jonas Jonasson.
