That Sugar Film is on its way to Melbourne this March 2015 with a national tour of cinemas in capital cities and regional centres. There are guest cameos in the film like Stephen Fry, Isabel Lucas and Brenton Thwaites. Interviews with the likes of Gary Taubes, Michael Moss and Kimber Stanhope are also featured, along with a rocking soundtrack that include Depeche Mode, Peter Gabriel and Florence and the Machine.
Damon, star and director of the film and special guests associated with the film will be participating in a special series of Q&A screenings. Check the cinema links below to buy tickets and find out more details about the sessions and guest hosts in your city.
This film is about Damon Gameau's journey to discover the bitter truth about sugar. On his journey he eats only foods that are commonly thought of as 'healthy' and through this informative film we see what a high sugar diet does to a healthy body. You will also be shown the issues that plague the sugar industry and where hidden sugars are hiding on the supermarket shelves. This film will change your mind and how you think about 'healthy' food. Damon's goal is larger than just highlighting the effects of sugar in your diet. He wants his project to be available to the generation that needs to see it most. Our future generation.
Hence, take note educators.
A school's screening program will commence in Term 2, 2015 for schools that would like to screen the film at school or through a group booking at their local cinema during school hours. There is also an option of doing a daytime booking for schools on the same dates and at the same cinemas Damon and crew are visiting on the tour.
If you want your school to be involved, contact the events/group bookings coordinator at your preferred cinema to discuss, then let the 'sugar squad' know by contacting them via email: [email protected] and they will make it happen. Meanwhile
register your information and more information will be sent to you early this year. '
That Sugar Film School Kits ' will also be available for schools who have registered their information.
The film has been well thought out and organised so that sections of it can be shown on their own to provide inspired fun learning in the classroom. There's a comprehensive study guide for different year levels that use interactive activities from the film and book. The study guide, film, book and some special bonus items will form part of the kit. Sign up to the schools mailing list to receive more info about the School Kit as it becomes available.
Damon will also have tips and methods to explain how he got healthy again and will provide opportunities to help take action to reduce sugar in school canteens and in a very special Aboriginal community featured in the film. In the meantime, you can
