I today returned to this restaurant after having fantastic Pho there the last time I visited. This time passing on the details and considerations to Weekend Notes readers. Traditional and Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine is a must visit on your quest for excellent Asian cuisine and particularly noodles around Adelaide city.

I was introduced to this excellent restaurant a while back. It sits just around the corner from the Adelaide Central Market on Field Street and is literally about 20 paces from Chinatown.

I got there for the excellent Pho so that is the focus for me but the menu is extensive and I know from friends who order across the menu that the quality is consistently good, fresh and delicious.

I've lived in Asia for some time so not scared of a bit of offal with noodles, so I selected the Pho Combination (no. 18). I choose the small size which is not at all small (see photo) but you have the choice of big or small, priced at $10 and $9.50 respectively. My lunch buddy for the day chose Pho nam (no. 20) cooked beef and was also really satisfied.

The restaurant fits a lot of people and is straight forward but clean. You will quickly have your order taken and the steaming hot Pho will come right away from the kitchen. We ordered hot green tea to go with the meal. Pho also comes with a plate of extras which comprises bean shoots, lemon, asian basil and parsley.

If you love Vietnamese food and want to venture further than Pho the menu will likely cater for your needs as it includes entree; wrap your own; Pho; soup; vermicilli dishes; rice dishes, wok fried dishes; chef specials; extra special dinner packs and desserts.

The restaurant has the atmosphere of a typical busy Asian restaurant but by looking at the mixture of people there today it's well patronised by a very wide demographic.

Thanh Thanh operates 7 days a week from Sunday to Thursday between 11am and 9pm and Friday and Saturday 11am to 10pm. They are located at 18 Field Street right next door to Angelakis Brothers. The restaurant is licensed and will also allow you to BYO. You can dine in as we did or take away.
