Best place to try Thai street food and get Thai groceries
Do you know that there is a little Thai Town right in the Sydney CBD? Thai Town is located on Campbell Street not far from China Town. Entering from George Street onto the strip you will find many Thai shops including the famous "Chat Thai" restaurant.
With much publicity and many branches, Chat Thai is very popular and everybody seems to want to try their food which results in a long queue. If you are impatient to wait in line, there are many other Thai restaurants in the area where the food is equally tasty.
Just walk further down Campbell St to come across another couple of restaurants or you can turn left at the corner when you reach Pitt Street as there are many Thai restaurants worth trying. Check them out as they do come in different decors and with special deals to attract their customers.

In Thai Town, all restaurants offer similar Thai dishes on their menus but the trick to watch out for is if the majority of customers are Thai then it must be good! Watch out for Lunch Specials as you can get a really good deal under $10. Thai food at Thai Town is considered quite cheap due to the fierce competition to grab Thai / International student attention.
For my latest visit to Thai Town, I had "Thai Boat Noodles" at Thai Na Town restaurant as this dish is their specialty. I also ordered the mixed entrée to start my meal and my tummy was happy after that!

So if you like to experience real food the way Thai's eat, do come to Thai town and let the Thai flavors dance in your mouth. After your meal if you feel like expanding your Thai culinary experience, you can visit any of the Thai grocery shops in the area. Thai people do come here to buy the hard-to-find Thai grocery items and I highly recommend you to try the Pork Crackers – crispy and yummy!
