The feeling of familiarity - of Thai Ormond being a great local venue - is not developed by chance. Instead, the venue being open 5pm-9.30pm seven days a week means any evening you pass the restaurant you shall see the lights on inside and waiters moving about inside. This at first may seem incidental, but instead it does much to draw people in who live close by.

Further, the availability of delivery to local suburbs means even if not on their door the menu can still be brought to yours, and payment can be done online via credit card or Paypal. For a non-franchise establishment the effort gone to in establishing a further step in ease-of-ordering shouldn't go overlooked or unmentioned. With this too, any orders that go over $50 can receive a free entree as seen on Thai's website. This is a nice little touch from a local restaurant that does much to make it a very competitive choice when picking up the phone on a Friday night.

On this, Thai Ormond offers the traditional Thai take-out fair. Pad Thai, Red Curry and Co are perhaps the chief drawcards. Yet, also offered are soups, spring rolls, dumplings and more, so one would need never feel confined to a limited selection either in-house or for delivery.

Concerning the food itself, it is the traditional take-out fair. This is not to take anything away from it, but nor too to needlessly overstate what is good, dependable and familiar comfort food. The only qualification or amendment that may need be made when ordering is specification in regards to the oil used. To those looking for a more simple or healthy take out option, the request to be sparing on the oil would likely leave one diner happiest. Yet, so too is it true - especially perhaps for those at the end of the week or a night out - that familiar taste of fried goods and the knowledge 'this cannot be all that good for me' is a chief factor in buying up a take-out meal. With this, perhaps nothing need be said and simply the meal enjoyed 'as is'.

All up Thai Ormond is a local restaurant not unlike others about the place - but that with much effort around the edges has seen it elevated to the next level in the minds of many. It need not be 5-star dining or Michelin Star to win a number of fans, instead it just needs to be a good and dependable 'local', that should be commended for taking much time to think how to cater to the community.
