Thai by 3 Monkeys is a restaurant serving Thai food that is located on O'Connell Street in North Adelaide. The restaurant is very popular with the locals so it is recommended to arrive early as it fills up quickly during the peak dinner hour.
Some of the dishes can be very spicy, so it is recommended to order a few non-spicy dishes to balance things out. The dishes we ordered were Tofu Chilli, Pad Nam Prik Pao stir fry and Massaman Beef Curry. Tofu Chilli was the most spicy of the three dishes we ordered, but not too spicy to the point where you have to constantly drink water to cool down the spiciness. The large chunks of fried tofu complemented the various vegetables well and the red curry paste used in the dish gave it a good amount of punch.
The Massaman Beef Curry is a good option for those not used to spicy food as the curry gravy is quite mild. The chunks of beef are tender enough that they can easily be cut with a spoon and fork and the chunks of potatoes contrasted nicely with the tender beef.
They also offer stir fried dishes in which you choose between chicken, beef, prawn or seafood to be cooked with vegetables and a range of sauces. We chose to order the Pad Nam Prik Pao stir fry made with chicken meat. The chicken is cooked to perfection and is complemented nicely by the sweet chilli jam and the broccoli, green beans, onion, capsicum and basil.
