Thai at Home is a casual dining restaurant in St. Lucia's trendy Hawken Drive. As is popular on Hawken Drive, there is plenty of outdoor seating, as well as appealing indoor seating and pillows available for those cooler nights!

I liked the greenery dividing this restaurant with its neighbours.
I got the Red Duck Curry with rice while my dining companion had Thai at Home's mixed seafood Pad Thai. We found both to be nicely presented.
My Red Duck Curry was not too spicy with strips of duck meat and plenty of fresh vegetables (beans, celery, bamboo shoots, carrot, broccoli), lychees balancing the curry almost as a bonus. I've never seen lychees in a curry before but the two flavours seemed to go well together. The vegetables were well cooked and the duck was tender (not that I've ever had bad duck meat). I felt very satisfied by the end of the meal - indeed most Thai curries are much more filling than you expect, and this was no exception. I had to give my companion more of my rice and a couple of duck pieces I couldn't finish off!

My delicious Red Duck Curry with a serving of rice.
My companion was happy enough with their Pad Thai, but found it a bit too sweet, particularly as she doesn't eat much sugar normally. The seafood pieces were a decent sized with a few of each kind - prawn, scallop and calamari. The vegetables were a little light on in this dish though (at least for me), with only carrot, shallot and bean sprouts. As far as pad Thai dishes go though, it was nice enough, and a good choice if you like seafood.

Thai at Home caters well to the student population within St Lucia and Hawken Drive's 5-minute walk from the University of Queensland. TWhen we went, they were offering student specials for red and green curries available for around $12. On the Monday night we went, the service was quick and the meals came in a timely manner. Thai at Home also gains bonus points from me for their well-designed website.
