Now that T.G.I. Friday's has opened for a while in the Melbourne CBD, everybody can get a taste of this famous restaurant. I was excited to finally visit as everybody kept nagging me to eat there - even my friends from overseas who happened to love their local T.G.I.F's.
When I first walked into the restaurant, I was greeted by a very interesting interior; this was supposed to be a steak restaurant, but the interior said the place was for family/communal dining. It was dark and crowded in a good way with Top 40 songs playing loudly in the background. The décor and accessories also ensured that this restaurant offered a relaxed fine dining experience.
Now off to the cuisine. My family and I ordered a couple of dishes and decided to share with each other so everyone could taste everything.
Jack Daniels' Glazed Ribs: The critically acclaimed signature dish of the restaurant. Baby pork grilled and toppled with the famous Jack Daniels sauce and accompanied by fries and corn cobs. When I got my hands on it, I was satisfied. It did live up to its hype and was one of the best rib dishes I've ever tasted. The ribs were tender enough that they were comfortable to eat. The chips and corn were very delicious and complemented the eating experience. The real gem was the sauce. It was salty and well-spiced and perhaps could go well with other food you want to dip into!
Char-grilled Chicken Sandwich: As we couldn't get enough of char-grilled meat, we ordered another meal. This dish wasn't as good as the glazed ribs, but it was delicious. The buns were spot on. The chicken was very tasty as well. If you don't feel like eating steak, this could be a top contender.
Brownie Obsession: We chose this for dessert. I'm not a huge fan of desserts, but this was an exception. Brownie surrounded by hot chocolate fudge and cold vanilla ice cream, plus caramel sauce and chopped pecans. Brownie Obsession was sweet but not overly so. It had the right sweetness, right hot and cold, and the pecans were the delightful sprinkles. The dessert concluded our tasty night.
