Don't miss the SA premiere of the worldwide hit

Red Phoenix Theatre and Holden Street Theatres are proudly presenting the South Australian premiere of German criminal lawyer and best-selling author Ferdinand von Schirach's debut play Terror.

Translated by David Tushingham, this exciting interactive production will play at The Studio for a strictly limited season.

A Lufthansa flight from Berlin to Munich, carrying 164 people, is hijacked. It's heading towards a crowded football stadium where 70,000 people are watching Germany play England. The German Air Force scrambles a fighter jet to try to divert the airliner. Major Lars Koch is ordered not to shoot - but he takes matters into his own hands and shoots the plane down. This is where the play begins. Major Koch is being tried for mass murder.

The audience vote decides how the play ends.

When the audience enters the auditorium, they become the jury. After hearing the evidence from witnesses and listening to the lawyers, the audience will decide whether Major Koch is guilty or not guilty of murder. Their decision determines the fate of the pilot and how the play will end.

Terror will have audiences discussing and arguing from the moment the interval begins - and for weeks afterwards. More than half a million jurors, from 2,646 trials around the globe, have seen Terror and delivered their verdicts. Results collected from all of these performances are kept and sorted in a central database.

Terror is directed by Brant Eustice and Tracey Walker and features an outstanding cast including Rachel Burfield, Samuel Creighton, Bart Csorba, Pete Davies, Ruby Faith, Fahad Farooque, Sharon Malujlo, and Kate van der Horst.

Red Phoenix Artistic Director, Michael Eustice, says, "This play poses a Hypothetical for our times. This exact scenario has been the topic of many dinner conversations following the destruction of the Twin Towers."

Terror also initiates many other conversations. Eustice says, "The play introduces timeless ethical issues such as, is it okay for a few to die to save many; how do we judge the value of a human life; is there a conflict between the law and morality."

Don't miss this Terror! It's a must-see for Adelaide theatre lovers! Tickets are now on sale. Choose from performances from Thursday 20 October to Saturday 22 October and Wednesday 26 October to Saturday 29 October at 7:30pm. Matinee on Sunday 23 October at 2pm.
