The 3 hour afternoon workshop begins with a brief introduction to terrariums, sustainability, and how the workshop developed; then a round table self introduction including a brief history of one's relationship with plants and gardens, and reason for undertaking the workshop.
Laura and Anna then instruct and assist participants to get their hands dirty, to create individual take home terrariums – beginning with the rock layer to allow for aeration, followed by activated charcoal to prevent bacterial growth, moss for moisture, soil for growth, and then plants and decorations for a personalized mini ecosystem.
All materials are included in the cost of the workshop, and participants are encouraged to bring their own keepsakes or miniature figurines they may wish to incorporate into their terrarium. You will create your own ecosystem in a jar, learn to take care of it, and also the skills to continue to create more.
