The city's brunch haven
The Terrace Café rests at the centre of the Royal Botanic Gardens, on the edge of one of the garden's many beautiful lakes. It offers a comfortable place to sit and enjoy the view over a sweet treat, brunch, or coffee, a refuge from the weather if it turns on you mid-walk, or a place to recover your energy if you're planning to explore the entirety of these enormous gardens.

It is, hands down, one of my favourite cafes in Melbourne. It easily has the best view and atmosphere of any place to enjoy your breakfast, and it offers healthy, delicious, well-priced food. It's a perfect place to take visitors to show off the gardens, one Melbourne's loveliest destinations. I bring myself here anytime I feel like a great feed and some tranquility.

And, for the gluten-free among us, it has some of the best gluten-free bread I've had, and several other GF options.

My recommendation, if you're torn by what the menu has to offer, is to start at the big breakfast.

The Big Breakfast

I absolutely love this big brekky. It has plenty of bacon, and from a bacon-fiend like myself, that means something. It features broccolini to keep it fresh, fluffy eggs and bread, fresh cherry tomatoes, buttery mushrooms and tasty tomato bean relish. It leaves you feeling healthy and totally satisfied.

And you can enjoy it with this view from the outdoor seats.

On my first visit I tried the omelette, which was fresh and tasty, with the delicious gluten free bread.

However, the omelette was over-shadowed by the big breakfast, which my partner ordered. I've opted for the big breakfast every visit since.

A breakfast with a view

The interior of this café is a lovely place to sit, as the windows give you a great view of the surrounding gardens, and the layout inside is simple and nice, with some gorgeous features.

Make the Terrace Café your pit stop. Once your bellies are full and your coffee needs met, you're in the best possible mood to explore the wondrous views around you.
