An unexpected high winter rainfall in Queensland in 2016 has resulted in an abundance of lush green grass in Brisbane parks. in Ashgrove is one of those parks which is at its glorious best this spring. I found 5 things to see on a visit to in Ashgrove:
1. Kids Playground
The playground will keep active kids amused with slides, swings, balance bar, bouncers and seats for mums and dads for watch over the little ones.
2. Huge mature gum trees
The park is home to a number of long standing, regal gum trees including the Eucalyptus grandis and Eucalyptus microcorys species. It's easy to be in awe of these majestic giants of the tree world as they line the walkway, which hugs the park and meanders around Enoggera Creek
3. Barbeques and sheltered tables with tap and pup bowl
The park has a picnic area with electric barbecues and white sheltered wooden seating areas and a tap for running water with a pup bowl for a thirsty pooch.
4. Large grassy space
The park is a total 1.79 hectares and has uninterrupted green space for running, throwing frisbees and even a game of cricket.
5. Pedestrian bridge
The Tennis Ave Park includes a cute 13 metre connecting bridge over Enoggera Creek for pedestrians and bike riders. A "Save our Waterways Now" catchment community volunteer group formed in 2016 where residents gather to plant trees, vegetation and care for the area.
