Sydney’s independent theatre scene is set for a transformative moment as Nautanki Theatre* and KXT Broadway partner to bring the play Ten Years To Home to audiences in Sydney.

The play, written by acclaimed playwright Sonal Moore, spans ten years from the 1960s to the 1970s and follows the journey of her parents from India to start a new life in Australia. Ten Years To Home invites audiences to experience a narrative deeply rooted in the migrant experience, capturing the nuances of cultural identity and the search for belonging in a foreign land. The story is told through the eyes of three generations of women and reveals the challenges faced by a family from India living a long way from home in a predominantly white Australia. It explores cross-cultural friendships, and the bonds formed despite differences and highlights the enduring power of human connection.

Ten Years To Home first premiered in 2019 at Riverside Theatre Parramatta and is a superb choice to kick off what promises to be a series of collaborative projects that will celebrate diversity, foster understanding, and strengthen the bonds between Sydney’s communities. As audiences immerse themselves in the production, they will be part of a new chapter in Sydney's cultural history and one that celebrates the rich diversity of its people and their stories.

Sonal Moore has captivated audiences with her short plays since 2004, gaining recognition globally in Australia, USA, India, Dubai and France. Her stories often explore themes of migration, cultural identity and family dynamics, offering a glimpse into the intricate cultural mosaic that defines her heritage.
