Breakfast in bed? Burnt toast and slurped coffee. Cute up to a point, but sometimes it is also good to get Dad out and about. And when Dad is up and out on Fathers' Day, so is the whole family. What better way to create some memorable family moments.
1. Meat the Man
Go for a meaty feast at
Vic's Meat Market Wagyu Bar. Here you can enjoy arguably Australia's best wagyu teamed with a glass of red. Or head to
LP's Quality Meats in Chippendale to enjoy a delicious selection of smoked and cured dishes, such as 15 hour BBQ beef short rub or BBQ chicken with a paprika and dill rub.
2. Get crafty:
Craft no longer just relates to knitting and embroidery. The craft brewing scene such as the one explored by
Dave's Brewery Tours gives you a behind-the-scenes look, and taste, of some of the craftiest names in the business such as Young Henrys in Newtown, The Henson in Marrickville or Willie the Boatman in St Peters and the Royal Albert Hotel in Surry Hills.
Or if your Dad prefers spirits, take him to the decidedly cool
Archie Rose Distilling Co in Rosebery where you can enjoy a bespoke whisky blending experience. Dad can even have the opportunity to create his very own personal blend.
3. Dude food:
Dad is not the only one to enjoy dude food. We all love it, but maybe just not all the time, and a special day like this is the perfect excuse to let yourself chomp into a hamburger. Especially given that Sydney has some amazing burger joints. Try
Neil Perry's Burger Project , Mary's or Chur Burger for the best burger and shake combo. For dude food with a Jamaican twist, check out the new
Rosie Campbell's for soft shell crab burgers and dem belly full jerk ribs.
4. Manscaping.
Manscaping. Yes it's a thing. It means pampering for men. Take Dad for a straight-edged razor shave or barbershop haircut at the
spaQ Barber Shop at QT Sydney. With treatments such as Mr. Bond and The Don, Dad may even be transformed. For a haircut with an extra twist of lemon,
The Barber Shop on York Street is a barbershop and cocktail bar all in one.
5. Let Dad wear the Apron
Sharing a cookery class is always a great bonding experience. Learn how to cook the perfect steak at
Williams-Sonoma , or go back to basics with Burger and Pizza Masterclasses at
Salt Meats Cheese.

7. Sand Man
The largest sand dune system in Australia is located at Stockton Beach just 30 minutes from Newcastle. This place is incredible and can be explored by quad bike with
Sand Dune Adventures. You can always "wet the whistle" afterwards at Murray's Brewery and enjoy a craft beer or glass of wine
8. Passion for Porsche?
Cliff to Coast Sports Car Drives takes you for a spin in a Porsche along Sea Cliff Bridge and the Grand Pacific Drive south of Sydney, and inland to the pretty Southern Highlands, giving you and Dad the chance to get behind the wheel of four different Porsches
9. Rocky Haven
South Coast's Shoalhaven has some of the best rock-climbing in the world. There are sections for beginners through to more experienced climbers in breathtaking locations.
Outdoor Raw and Climb Nowra customise climbs for where your Dad's at.
10. So your Dad thinks what Bear Grylls does is easy?
Well let him try it for himself by signing him up to a
Bear Grylls Survival Academy Course with Glenworth Valley Outdoor Adventures . Your Dad will have 24 hours of navigating without a compass, rock scrambling, abseiling, commando crawling and foraging for food within a wilderness property on the Central Coast.&
