I am a natural movement & outdoor enthusiast who is always on the lookout for ways to incorporate physical activity into my life. My perfect day would combine outdoor movement, great food & convivial company.

Make it up to your kids for dragging them to Ikea
Tucked away off the Princes Highway at Tempe - just down the road from Ikea - is a delightful park situated within Tempe Reserve. It features a giant flying fox, climbing pyramid and a pair of 'X-celerators', which I've not seen at other playgrounds.

To play on the X-celerator, make a leaning motion with the body which starts a spinning action that kids can increase or decrease with their movement. Not only is it perfect for tweens, adults will also love to have a go or three (once you get the hang of it).

Next to the park there are several large basketball courts which make the perfect training ground for kids learning how to ride a bike. When we went on a weekday, we had the place to ourselves.

There is a cycle path/footpath around the perimeter of the reserve.

This is a fun park for older kids as toddlers would be too small to play on the flying fox and x-celerator. The park is fenced.

There is ample parking in the onsite parking lot.

Thanks for writing about this park - I've seen it across the water on the way to the airport and wondered what it was called. The X-celerator looks like brilliant fun!
