Being popular for being mean, isn't a good way to be popular

Teen Spirit

Teen Spirit is an ABC Family original made for television movie. Directed by Gil Junger, the film stars Cassie Scerbo (from Make It Or Break It) and Lindsey Shaw (from Pretty Little Liars) in the lead roles and it is narrated by Tim Gunn, which can get a little irritating after a while.

The film tells the story of a high school full of your typical cliques, all getting amped to find out if Amber Pollock, the most popular girl in school, will indeed be their newly crowned prom queen - all except for Lisa Sommers and her group of friends, who are too busy making their short Claymation films about a little pig, who seems to get blown up a lot.

When the time finally comes round for the night of all nights, as predicted, the "amazing Amber" is crowned queen of the prom, but as fate would have it, there was a freak accident, which promptly resulted in the end of their new queens rein. To put it simply, she dies. Amber's soul ends up in limbo and to prove she deserves to get into heaven; Amber must make the most unpopular person at her former school the new queen, at their make-up prom.

After coming back, in an invisible to all but Lisa ghost, Amber soon finds out that although she was the most popular girl in her school, due to her nasty and mean nature, nobody, not even her boyfriend and best friends, shed a tear for her. Things end up going from bad to worse as Amber realises the errors of her mortal ways, but all is well in the end.

Teen Spirit is a great film aimed at tweens and early teens, with a great soundtrack and helps them to learn that being mean towards others will never pay off for them in the end.

Teen Spirit is rated PG as parental guidance is recommended for a younger audience and was originally released on DVD in 2011.

7.5/10
