Here's a goody for the kids if you're a hillbilly or are keen to take the drive up. Hills Book Café on Sanderson road in Lesmurdie has organised Teddy Bear Picnics on Friday October 7th and 14th starting at 10am.

Activities planned throughout the mornings include story & song, snack time, and craft time. The events are suitable for 3-6 year olds and cost $20 per child. Included in the price is the choice of a hardcover copy of either " The Very Itchy Bear " or " The Very Cranky Bear " by best selling children's author Nick Bland . Though the coffee here is mediocre at best, which is a shame considering they use Organic Fair-trade Yahava beans, and the menu leaves something to be desired, the house-made Bee Sweet cupcakes look like sweet bursts of sugary delicious.

Herbal, fruit, and regular teas are available, as are milkshakes, smoothies, tasty looking fresh sandwiches for grownups and kids versions too. And, if you're brave enough - you never know - you may have a better coffee experience than I did. Beyond the very basic café eats, the simple backdrop is adorable with walls covered in books for all ages, it's a great place to sit and read, not to mention a very kids friendly atmosphere.
