returns to Chadstone the Fashion Capital for its fourth year in time for Teddy's annual check-up on Saturday 25, August and Sunday 26, August.

Bring your child with teddy in arms as the Teddy Bear Hospital aims to reduce childhood anxiety about a trip to the doctor or hospital through children taking their teddies in for a medical examination.

It also gives medical and allied health students experience in communicating and engaging with younger patients and they love doing it. Take a look at the short video below that explains what these students get from making teddies well again.

The program is staffed by more than 800 student volunteers from medical and allied health schools. Children can interact and learn through fun activities such as taking their teddies to Teddy Doctors, Teddy X-rays, Teddy ICU, Teddy Surgery, and Teddy Physiotherapy.

The program is proudly supported by The University of Melbourne and The Royal Children's Hospital.

All funds raised go to The Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

Last year the charity initiative saw over 2,000 children visit the Teddy Bear Hospital with medical and allied health student volunteers tending to the sniffles, coughs and colds of sick teddies, raising over $30,000 for The Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal.

While your children are probably healthy and happy, you never know when there could be a mad rush to the hospital.

Children often don't go through childhood without at least one trip to a hospital or an emergency department. Whether it be after coming off a scooter or sudden pains. I remember taking my son into the hospital with chest pains when he started school, only to find it had more to do with him worried about his new year level. Whereas, another little one in the family went in with bad asthma during a thunderstorm. You never know when such things might happen.

So your child takes his or her teddy to have its pulse checked or broken leg mended and it is a fun and engaging way to prepare them for potential medical visits or procedures.

Children can bring in their teddy for the Winter check-up anytime between 10 am and 5 pm over the weekend, for a cost of $5 per child or $10 for a family admission.
