Ted - Film Review

Event: -

Ted is the story of a little boy who wishes his teddy bear to life.

It's also a movie I wished was a little bit funnier. Don't get me wrong, I chuckled but there was more 'smiling' than ab crunching laughter.

It's from the makers of Family Guy and if you're a fan you'll recognise that Ted is voiced by Seth MacFarlane (the same guy who voices Peter Griffin).

This fluffly bear has a potty mouth and a love of the wacky tabacky. He's also the loyal (but somewhat misguided) best friend of the now-grown up John Bennett, played by Mark Wahlberg.

There's one problem though and that's John's girlfriend (Mila Kunis). They've been dating for four years and she thinks it's about time he 'grew up'.

Lots of rude jokes - the best of which you've seen in the trailer (the rattling off the white-trash names and the 'thunder buddies' song) - and a few cameos, including the guy who played Flash Gordon in the 1980 movie (Sam Jones) and Come Away With Me singer Norah Jones (slightly out of place).

I think what spoiled this movie for me was that I went after hearing from a couple of people that it was the funniest movie. You know what happens when your expectations are too high - they can never be fulfilled.

Funnier movies I've seen this year include American Pie: Reunion and definitely, 21 Jump Street.

Ted is okay. I wouldn't say don't go to see it. I just want to lower your expectations so you'll enjoy it a bit more than I did.

Three furry thumbs up.
