One of the few I regrets I have in life is selling my teapot collection. I don't even drink tea but I love the shape of teapots. It began when I saw a friend about to throw a cracked pot and I grabbed it. She subsequently gave me more and eventually I had about 10 quirky cute pots that sat on a shelf across my kitchen window. They were filled with a variety of water plants and I loved them.
As you may imagine when I saw the headline "TEAPOT EXTRAVAGANZA" my eye was well and truly caught. This sounds like a place for me. Are you wondering as I was if it may be time to start new collection?
St Albans Church in Toowoomba will be displaying over 500 teapots - 500!! Some decorative, some functional, lots of novelty teapots and even some antiques.
Also on display will be collections of tea towels, aprons, quilting, buttons, dolls, pottery and other items of interest. Browse the stalls of books, plants and crafts knowing that any funds raised are used to support local community projects.
Enjoy a snack of Devonshire teas or barbecue sausages as well as drinks.
In the adjacent St Alban's Church, discover a further display of bibles and prayer books and interesting historical items. There is also a raffle of a wheelbarrow full of goodies for only $1 a ticket.
The tea pot display in the hall costs $3 but many of the other displays in and around the church are free.
Parking is provided in the church grounds and there is disabled access.
Combine your visit with a look a the Carnival of Flowers.
