Want to do some study? What about reading tea leaves?
Here's a new word to remember for your next Scrabble game: TASSEOGRAPHY

Yes, a mouth full I know. And what is TASSEOGRAPHY exactly?

It is the art of reading tea leaves. Of course.

Reading tea leaves, or coffee grounds, has traditionally been practiced in many countries by the women in the family, typically at gatherings of family and friends. Tea leaf reading is also referred to as tasseomancy or teomancy, whilst coffee reading is known as cafeomancy.

In ancient times, they would read the wine lees left in the glass.

Loose tea is considered the best for leaf reading and these include green, black, white or oolong. Tea in tea bags is considered to have been too broken down in the processing to allow reading of the leaves. The art is about interpreting the images left in the tea cup.

Now I'm a girl who is incapable of facing the day without her three cups of tea. And I love my leaf tea and all the varieties thereof. A different tea for different moods. I have never in my life, however, considered having the dregs of my favourite beverage scrutinised by a stranger.

Walking through Cleveland yesterday I spotted a sign in a newly opened shopfront promoting "Tea Leaf Reading Classes".

On Sunday, the 19th July, Tea Leaf Reading Classes are being held in the Metro Arcade, 5/99 Bloomfield Street, Cleveland.

Classes run from 10 am till 1 pm and cost $50.00.

Bookings are essential . Ring Kate on 0411 254 880

If this is not your cup of tea, Kate also runs Meditation classes. Now Meditation has saved me more than once when working in pressure job roles. Add teenage daughters to the mix and you have an explosion waiting to happen. Thank goodness for meditation!

Meditation classes are held on Tuesday's, 7 pm till 9pm
and Thursday's, 11 am till 12.30 pm

There are many other activities held within these premises, including tarot and psychic readings, though it was the tea that grabbed my interest. With all those canisters in my pantry I'm thinking classes may well be a viable option.
