Do you perhaps remember when we used to all use tea cosies? This was an era perhaps before some of you readers were even born!

This was an era of hand-knitted tea cosies and covered coat hangers. Our nannas used to always have these and they were part of everyday life.

Now you can go and see a bit of this yesteryear exhibition - yes, a Tea Cosy Exhibition will be on again to support cancer.

The Cancer Council Victoria has developed an international reputation for their valuable work in cancer research, prevention and support. It is an independent, not-for-profit organisation who play a leading role in reducing the blow of all cancers on all people.

Cancer affects most of us in some way or other. Now, using people's love of handcrafts, this event can help make a difference. The theme behind this exhibition is to "Craft a Cure for Cancer".

There are FREE patterns for making all sorts of tea cosies and there are some really novel ones, including a dog one you can knit here.

Craft a Cure for Cancer began with the Tea Cosy Competition, which is held annually at Warratina Lavender Farm. The concept of the Tea Cosy Competition is for people who enjoy knitting, crocheting and all types of craft to make tea cosies and soft toys. They then donate these to be sold and thereby raise funds for a worthy cause.

After four years, the Tea Cosy Competition has grown to raise over $32,000 for the Cancer Council. This will go towards cancer research, prevention and support.

The success of the Tea Cosy Competition ended up by many people who love to do crafts, enquiring if they could create their own craft-related event and so Craft a Cure for Cancer was born!

Get a group of crafters together and knit, crochet, sew or whatever you like for a cure. You can then donate to [i Craft for Cancer].

The Tea Cosy exhibition will be held on 14th to 22nd July, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Do come and see the wonderful display of tea cosies, together with soft toys and other crafts!

You will see the wonderful prize-winning tea cosy and support the Cancer Council by purchasing one of these tea cosies. You can also enter the raffle to win one of the great prizes.

There will also be about 40 beautiful quilts on the walls of the venue. (The quilts hanging on the walls are on loan, however, and not for sale).

Last year, there were over 700 items on display and it will be bigger and better in 2018! The tea cosies and other yarn creations will all be for sale. These are items that you can normally not buy in a shop and all money raised is donated to the Cancer Council.

It will be held at Warratina Lavender Farm, 105 Quayle Rd, Wandin Yallock, and entry is by gold coin donation. This area is about 43 kms east of Melbourne and 8 km beyond Lilydale.

While you are there, why not spoil yourself and book into the Warratina Lavender Farm tea rooms for a delicious Devonshire tea or lunch.
