In October this year TBEX Asia is being held in Bangkok, Thailand. This is a fantastic opportunity, as Asia is renowned for being as cheap as it is culturally rich and exciting and Bangkok is an excellent spot from which to explore the rest of Asia with many flights to neighboring countries leaving from Bangkok's airports.



For the uninitiated, TBEX (or travel blog exchange) touts itself as 'the world's largest gathering of travel bloggers, writers, new media content creators, and social media savvy travel industry professionals'. These conferences are a great way for bloggers to network, make friends, learn more about the travel industry and visit exotic destinations where the conferences are held.

Not only can you meet other bloggers when you attend TBEX conferences, but also you have the opportunity to meet potential sponsors and participating brands including Expedia, Air B&B, TripAdvisor, Costa Brava Tourism, Think Social Media and more.



Although it is clearly a great place for bloggers to come for learning and opportunity, it is also a really fun way to experience the destination city throughout the conference and during the pre-conference and post-conference tours. Bangkok itself is a large city with a little something for everyone and the conference will be held at the impressive Queen Sirikit National Conference Center.



As part of the ticket price, you will be able to attend all the sessions during the conference, the official parties, keynote addresses and will be eligible to sign up for pre and post conference events. Although the conference is strictly only from the 15th to the 17th of October, related events are also held for a few days before and after the conference proper.



These are free events that attendees can sign up for and include some exciting experiences with local businesses, tour companies and venues.

This years pre-conference events include Muay Thai Training, Local Market Tours, Massage and Spa Treatments, Cooking Classes and guided tours of some Bangkok's most important sites. More specifics to look forward to include the opening night party, which is themed on the upcoming Loi Krathong festival. Festivities will involve dinner and entertainment, activities, and a 'make-your-own-krathong' opportunity, followed by the traditional ceremony where the 'krathongs' are placed on the river to float downstream (traditionally believed to symbolize bad luck and sins floating away).



With exciting and culturally-rich events like this planned as part of the conference, it is evident that TBEX Asia is more than just a 'business meeting', but more of an experientially holistic conference to attend.

Children who register are also allowed to participate in TBEX, but there are some understandable restrictions, as a lot of the events and venues serve alcohol. Although it might seem strange that children would want to attend, there are an increasing number of child travel bloggers and travel blogging families.



Be aware that apart from bloggers, people who cover travel via video, as well as through podcasting can register. Grab tickets to the upcoming TBEX Asia event sooner rather than later as there are limited spaces, not only for the conference, but for access to the pre-conference events that you will be eligible to sign up for.
